Birth is a Human Rights Issue
With the creation of the newspaper/zine Birth is a Human Rights Issue, I tackle the issues of the high rates of cesarean sections and maternal mortality in hospital settings. I draw from scientific studies and newspaper articles interspersed with the feminist writings of Adrienne Rich and Ina May Gaskin, and with representations of motherhood by prominent contemporary artists, such as Rineke Dijkstra, Mary Kelly and Judy Chicago.
